Ignition cluster in Vila Nova de Famalicão (Braga) fuels activity

The day is being shaped by a cluster of ignitions around Vila Nova de Famalicão in Braga, with additional sparks in Baião (Porto) and Sintra (Lisboa) adding to the tally. Activity has built steadily since the morning, first in the north‑west and then spreading eastward, while the interior sees a handful of flare‑ups that crews are bringing under control. At present the cluster remains active, a few incidents are under surveillance and the rest have been contained. MTG is picking up numerous unmatched thermal signals, most likely from industrial or agricultural sources rather than new wildfires.

Technical discussion

IPMA flags a marked RIR decline tomorrow in the Faro district, with the risk level dropping to its lowest tier. The fire‑weather regime today is moderate, keeping operational tempo on the lighter side of the seasonal norm. MTG asymmetry remains low, with few unmatched detections beyond the usual background. Overall fire‑weather indices are expected to stay within the marked forecast band through the evening.

Outlook

Risk continues to ease through the afternoon, with the lowest level persisting in the Faro district. Tomorrow the fire‑weather outlook remains marked for a further decline.
